UNGC Decent Work Toolkit for Sustainable Procurement:
Chapter on Responsible Contracting
RCP contributed a chapter on Responsible Contracting to the UN Global Compact’s Decent Work Toolkit for Sustainable Procurement. The Decent Work Toolkit supports action to improve labor conditions for workers in global supply chains. RCP’s chapter outlines the why and how of Responsible Contracting by making the business case for Responsible Contracting and explaining how it supports transparency and compliance with key human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD) laws like the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and the German Supply Chains Act (LkSG), as well as with trade sanction laws like the EU Forced Labor Regulation (EU FLR) and the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA). It also provides practical tools from our Toolkit and real-world case studies from sectors including apparel, agriculture, and tech.
